Gurugram: 2 feared dead as floor collapses at Chintels Paradiso

GURUGRAM: A floor of Chintels Paradiso, residential society in sector 109, collapsed on Thursday during a repairing work at 6th floor of Tower-4 of D-Block of the society.
Two people including a woman are feared dead while 4-5 people are still trapped in debris.

Repairing work was in progress in living room of a flat on 6th floor when roof started to collapse, and it led to collapse of one after another floor. The collapse started from 6th floor and it stopped on the first floor of building. Many of the flats in between 6th and first floor were vacant which averted a major tragedy.
A team of NDRF along with fire brigade, disaster management are engaged in the rescue operation under supervision of senior officials of administration and police. The society has 530 flats and nearly 420 families are staying in the residential society for past four years.

Chintels in its official statement said this is an extremely unfortunate incident and we have taken it very seriously as the safety of our residents is our utmost concern. Upon preliminary investigations, we have come to know that some negligence in repair work done by the contractor in an apartment led to this incident. We are fully cooperating with the authorities and ensuring all support. We extend our heartfelt condolence to the affected families.
