Merchant Navy officer assaulted, robbed in Gurugram

GURUGRAM: A merchant navy officer, who was on leave, was assaulted and robbed of cash and valuables by a group of four people. The accused and the officer are from the same village.
Yogesh Kumar, merchant navy chief officer, resident of Basai village is on leave. On Thursday Kumar was going towards Gurugram from his village. He stopped near the BSF camp to purchase some household items. Four people in the car came close to him and picked up an argument with him.
The accused started to thrash him and snatched Rs 22,000 cash, 50 US dollar, mobile phone and gold chain. Hearing commotion people from the nearby areas assembled at the spot. Fearing to be caught, the accused fled from the spot while issuing threats to Kumar.
Based on the complaint a case was registered under section 323 (causing hurt) and 379A (snatching) of IPC at Bhondsi police station. “We are verifying the facts and action will be taken on the basis of investigation,” said station house officer (SHO) of Bhondsi police station, inspector Devender Mann.
