Vatika Chk service road to be widened

Gurgaon: The Vatika Chowk, intersection of Sohna Road and Southern Peripheral Road (SPR), has emerged as one of the most congested junctions in city. The construction of Sohna elevated road, which is supposed to unclog Sohna Road, has further aggravated traffic congestion.
To tackle snarls at Vatika Chowk, the traffic police held a meeting with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), which is constructing the Sohna elevated road, for improving traffic flow at the junction.
“A meeting was organised with NHAI when it was decided that the service road from SPR to Vatika chowk will be widened and repaired with placement of a median to facilitate two-way traffic movement,” said DCP (traffic) RS Tomar.
The DCP also said that to minimise snarls, they have deployed policemen at the junction in three shifts of eight hours each. “Till this civil work is done, we request commuters to start a bit early to reach their destination on time,” Tomar said.
The people residing in the new sectors, developed along the SPR, have complained several times about regular traffic jams at the Vatika Chowk.
“It takes a long time to cross this section of the road. The junction is congestion all the time,” said Sarita Sharma, a resident of Sector 65.
