Haryana: Class X girl attacked with acid, cousin stabbed in Kurukshetra

KURUKSHETRA: A 14-year-old Class X girl was allegedly attacked with acid by a man in Shahabad-Markanda town of Haryana’s Kurukshetra district on Tuesday.
The incident took place when the girl was returning home with her cousin after appearing in the board exam.
The attacker also stabbed the girl’s cousin when he came to help his sister.
Both, the minor injured girl and her brother Snehdeep (18), were discharged after treatment at the LNJP civil hospital in Kurukshetra.
On the complaint of Hardayal Singh, father of the survivor girl, the police have registered a case against accused Harshdeep Singh (18) of Madanpur village.
“On Tuesday at about 10am, my daughter went to appear in her exam at Arya Public School in Shahabad. While she was returning home on a motorcycle with her cousin, at about 3pm, I received a call from my nephew that Harshdeep Singh along with another youth, forcibly stopped their bike mid-way and started harassing my daughter. When my nephew tried to help her, Harshdeep stabbed him on his arm and attempted to throw acid on my daughter’s face. My daughter saved her face but acid fell on her left foot,” alleged Hardayal Singh.
The girl’s father said that Harshdeep had been harassing his daughter for the last three-four months and he had complained to his parents about the same but the boy did not listen rather his family started threatening them.
“Harshdeep’s family said that they wanted to marry their son to my daughter and they threatened to kill our entire family if we did not accept their offer”, added Hardayal.
The complainant demanded action against Harshdeep, his accomplice and his parents.
Shahabad police station house officer (SHO) inspector Rakesh Kumar said, “We have registered a case against accused Harshdeep Singh and the investigation is being conducted. So far, no arrest has been made and the allegations levelled by the complainant are being verified. The injured girl and her brother are safe and were discharged after treatment on Tuesday.
