Haryana: Farmers protest at Hisar toll plaza, seek free travel

HISAR: A group of farmers on Wednesday started a dharna at Hisar’s Ramayan toll plaza demanding free travel for them and vehicles of neighbouring villages. The farmers have declared that “they will no longer tolerate the hooliganism of toll workers.”
Addressing the villagers, Aam Aadmi Party spokesperson Manoj Rathi said that toll officers should look into the demand of the villagers. “The villagers are not fond of giving up their works, but they are sitting on dharnas for two days against injustice. The administration should also immediately look into this demand and give instructions to the officers concerned ,” he said. “If the surrounding villages are not made toll free, then they will also have to pay toll for going from one village to another, which is unfair to them,” he added.
He claimed that while being an INLD MP, Dushyant Chautala used to call this toll absolutely wrong and said will remove it soon. “Not only this, he used to say that when he gets power, he would break the first pillar of this toll with his own hands,” he said.
“Now he should come to this toll and initiate the uprooting of its pillar, so that the rest of the work can be done by the villagers,” he added.
Social worker Mukesh Gujjar also spoke on the occasion, and said that villagers are fighting for their basic rights. “Villagers of this area are becoming victims of exploitation in the name of toll, due to which they have started a agitation in a peaceful manner,” Gujjar said
