Shyam Singha Roy movie review highlights

After Taxiwaala, Rahul Sankrityan is back with yet another mind bender with Shyam Singha Roy, featuring Nani, Krithi Shetty, Sai Pallavi in the lead roles.
Vasu (Nani) is a budding filmmaker with a bright future ahead of him. In a bid to find his footing in the film industry, he writes three exciting scrips that get picked up by producers in no time. But when he lands in legal trouble for plagiarising stories by a publishing house in Kolkata, he must prove his innocence in court. Psychology student and the actress of his short film, Keerthy (Krithi Shetty) ropes in her mentor (Leela Samson) and cousin Padmavati (Madonna Sebastian) to help him. But when they dig deeper into Vasu’s psychosis, they unearth something they weren’t prepared for.

The first half of Shyam Singha Roy keeps one hooked, with most of the story taking place in present time in Hyderabad. Thankfully Rahul spends more time on setting up Vasu and his predicament than on his love story with Keerthy. With flashes that take you back to vintage Kolkata, the film keeps you hooked to know more. With the film revealing a key point right before the interval, and the stage set for the big unveiling, it remains to be seen what path Rahul chooses to explain the story. It would also be exciting to see how Sai Pallavi factors into the larger story at hand.
